It seems like whenever I turn around
In this young-adult, suburbanite town
I find myself stuck in an empty void
Stripped of emotion to a shapeless core
It's numbness pervasive, it invades my soul
Even surrounded by all these people I know
Conversation is useless in this magic show
As I struggle to hang on to my drowning soul
A beacon of light signals a distant shore
As I summon my might to touch land once more
I heave my body on to the ground
It feels good to lie next to you in the sand
Baby you mean more than any of that to me
They remind me of death and yet you inspire me
To reach down inside and live my life fully
Cause with you I'm as alive as I can be
